Description
Synthetic form of oxytocin – a 9-amino-acid neuropeptide produced in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus. Known as the ‘bonding hormone’ or ‘love hormone.’ Endogenous oxytocin plays roles in social bonding, childbirth, lactation, and sexual function. Available as nasal spray or injectable. FDA-approved (Pitocin) for obstetric use.
